How to Seduce a Band Geek (How To #2) by Cassie Mae

How to Seduce a Band Geek (How To #2)
Publisher: Swoon Romance
Release Date: 05/06/14
Rate: Enjoyed it (4 stars)

Synopsis:
Sierra Livingston’s got it bad for her sister’s best friend, Levi Mason—the boy who carries his drumsticks in his pocket, marches with the school’s band, and taps his feet to whatever beat runs through his head. Sierra racks her brain for ways to impress the sexy drummer, but the short skirts and bursting cleavage don’t seem to cut it.
When Sierra gets paired with Levi’s sister, Brea, for a mentorship program, they strike a deal. In exchange for Sierra keeping her mouth shut about Brea ditching the program, Brea lets Sierra dig for more info on Levi to help get the guy of her dreams.
But when Sierra discovers Levi no longer plays the drums, his family has moved into a trailer, and he’s traded in his Range Rover for a baby blue moped, Sierra’s not sure if she can go through with violating his privacy. She’ll have to find the courage to ask him straight out—if he’s willing to let her in—and explore other ways to seduce the school’s band geek.

I am not sure how Cassie Mae does it, but every single How To story is beyond sweet, lovable and with a level of nerdiness that makes the reader go from "Geeks-rock" to "I-know-now-that-I-am-a-geek-too".

In this How To story, Sierra or, how her older sister Zoe called her in How To Date A Nerd, Satan's daughter, is the main character of this geeky story. And we learn, for many readers relieve, that she's not as mean and whiny as she might have gave the impression in the first book (This is a normal behavior in these particular years of being a teenager, so I kind of went to a trip to memory lane).

In How To Seduce A Band Geek, Sierra's being labeled as a tease just because she wasn't ready to have sex with her now ex-boyfriend. And being labeled as a tease and a prude lead you to the bottom of the "high school chain". Meaning she's being bullied because of it and, obviously, not as popular as she might like to be.
But nothing matters that much anymore since she's trying to impress one guy. The only guy that seems to not care about social status and that only likes a girl for who she is: Levi, her sister's friend. She's willing to make her visible for her, not just as Zoe's little sister, but as Levi's friend, and hopefully more. But while digging into Levi's life, she finds out some things that might have been preventing his crush from showing her how much he doesn't see her as Zoe's little sister.

This is some sort of ode to all geeks around the world. Not just this book, but the whole How To series. And I am proud of feeling somehow identified by these stories or remembering my teenage behavior due to teen hormones and my owns nerdiness.
I like that these stories are easy to get to the reader and he or she can feel truly related to the main characters. It's easy to understand why and how Sierra's acting the way she's acting and finding out that after all she's more mature and sensible that I was expecting. And Levi? He's a music geek who will steal from you one of those starstruck smiles reserved only for book boyfriends and make you drool for him. He's hot, funny and I definitely want one! Ups, sorry. He's more mature than other boys and I simply love his personality.

As if you were expecting any different from me after so much fangirling-rambling... How To Seduce a Band Geek is one of those Young Adult romances that leaves you with a goofy grin after finishing it. The romance in the story is a sweet one, perfect for geeky teens like the two main characters and their relationship progresses throughout the story. Like normal relationships do. We also learn some things about both characters that we might have missed before and some epic romantic scenes that would make you squeal. I'm just going to say one thing and I promise to not leave any spoiler: Best-first-kiss... ever!

It was fun to read about the How To gang again and see how our two main characters from the first story were doing (so happy for both of them *throws confetti*) and to give Sierra and Levi a book to explain their geeky, sweet, funny and definitely romantic story of How To Seduce a Band Geek. Cassie Mae's a genius and if you don't know why I am saying this, just grab ANY How To book. Definitely a story I would have love to read this summer while being on the beach! *just an idea, girls*
